Cookies

I figure I'd write something on my thought of the week for this week which is cookies. And I love cookies. Just last week, or the week before they all run together at this point, I had a craving for Oreos. I just had to have them. And, no, they weren't on sale, but no matter I bought them (double stuff) of course and ate about half of the package (not all at once) and then doled out the remainder in the lunch.
So now, I am in the mood for Mallomars. I don't even know if they make them or if I can get them here in the desert. Sometimes they don't sell them here because it's too hot. All the chocolate will melt off before you get them to your hot car and then the marshmallow will ooze and dissolve into a gooey mess. But they are a lovely cookie.
Now I've only talked about store bought cookies, but I do bake them too. (Or the hubby does a lot better than I do.) He makes a really mean chocolate chip cookie. The secret, should I tell you...okay, you twisted my arm, is to melt the butter or the margarine and then use one whole egg and then a yolk of another. You can do this to almost any recipe and they come out great. Also, you must slightly under cook them and then drop the whole pan of cookies on the stove or counter top when they come out of the oven. I don't know why, but this makes a most remarkable cookie.
Well, enough about the cookie talk. Go out and enjoy one somewhere, for me, please?!
Have a happy day!

Spell Checking

I have been reading some of the knitting blogs that I like, and I notice among a lot of the writers that they do not take advantage of the spell checker on their particular blogging site. That really irks me. It's there, it's part of the program, please, please use it. For I cannot and do not like that some postings, even some very popular ones, do not utilize this particular tool of their computer.
People, either use it or learn how to spell correctly.
Thank you.

Enough of that.

Good night.

Spring Fever

Spring Fever.
I think I've got it. Right around the second week of March I always get a little restless and feel the need to go shopping for anything. Toys, clothes, shoes, cleaning supplies. Whatever. But usually my thoughts always stray to that '80's classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. That whole movie was about Spring Fever. I loved it then, and love it now. They tour Chicago, go to lunch, go to the museum, go to a Cubs game (go Cubs!), go to a parade and just have a fantastic time forgetting about all their problems. Great movie.
I also the urge to watch baseball. Enough of these indoor sports. Done with hockey (the ice will melt). Done with basketball. Well, almost. I do like the college March Madness stuff. No NBA, how about that. Done with all indoor things. Give us fresh air, give us sunshine. Give us skirts, tank tops and flip flops. No socks please.
Give us baseball. And lead us into summer, fall and winter again.

The computer...

At the end of Feb., my old worn out computer bit the dust. It had had enough. It was as someone said "maxed out at 100%." When it stopped, I never realized how dependent I was on the computer and my e-mail and my web reading and research. I almost felt like I had cold sweats and withdrawal symptoms. I also didn't get angry or upset when it died. What was I going to do? I couldn't control it, it's a machine. Machines eventually quit working. So, I gathered my emotions and got other things done. Sure I couldn't work, but my boss was okay with it, she knows things like this happen and nothing was really on a deadline.
So, today it's back to being in touch with the computer world, and in this day and age, back to reality, at least the reality of the computer world.
